Thus far....

20 April rapidly approaches and we really haven't done a to to prepare for Warrior Dash.
What scares me the most is failing at this but I am hoping I will find the will power to kick it in and get a  little fitter before then. A 5km obstacle course.!!

We haven't been complete sedentary  Swimming for an hour and over a kilometer mos Sundays. A few days at the gym though it has been very random.
And then last Sunday we walked the 1000 steps at Mt Dandenong. Now apparently the 1000 Steps (also known as the Kokoda Trail Memorial Walk) but I don't recall it and it is the same park that we went on family picnics too when I was much much younger.

Anyway we arrived on site at 8am so an early Sunday morning start from Bacchus Marsh (probably drove 100kms to get there )  and we did it. I didn't think I would make it, but I did. Go Me!!!

I recently bought one of those sports video cam called a MUVI and this was the first time I used it and then tried to generate a video recording of my activity.

Here goes - 1000 Steps Part 1

And yes I am still not smoking. Shame about the weight gain.

Enjoy

A new year, a new view...

I gave up smoking on 1 Feb. That was the date and day I chose. However I had a smoke that evening, then one on the Saturday and then 2 puffs of one on Monday afternoon (it made me feel sick so I butted it out!). So the counter is from Monday afternoon.

Why? Umm, it was time!

Also Tash has convinced me I should do Tough Mudder. What is tough mudder, you ask? Tough Mudder events are hardcore 20 km-long obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. http://toughmudder.com.au/. All I know is 20km (*^&*^), containers full of ice for instant hypothermia (*&(%%),  and electrocution (^%$%^$). This will be in September

In preparation for this we have also signed up for the warrior dash - a 5km version of the same which is on 20 April. This means i Kind of  need to get a bit fitter (or a lot fitter)

It's a slow start but what have I done so far:
  • Tree adventures - 2 hours of climbing through  obstacles that are about 10 metres off the ground. Used loads of upper body to pull myself along cargo nets and tightropes (always harnessed on) and we did the long blue and red trails.
  • Swimming - spent 2 hours in the pool last Sunday  - 1st time after many years but managed to swim about 500m so did okay.

Anyway I will use this site to start recording where I am up to and whether I fail dismally at all this fitness stuff :)

Guess I better add a before photo at some stage...
